Winter 2017 News
(This article is taken from Rollestonian - Winter 2017 issue)

Well what a wonderful summer we haven’t had, at least we have had our flower clubs and demonstrations to brighten our lives. We have enjoyed some really good demonstrators this year, including Di Singleton in May, a club members demo “In it Together” although I admit to still having reservations on my part and Gill Mills in August. Our September workshop featured club secretary Jane Howard, a great design costing very little using Autumnal foliage with fruit and vegetables as an alternative to flowers.

We had a great evening for our charity event on 6th October when the “Friday Voices Choir” entertained members and guests. It was a most successful evening raising funds for the Donna Louise Trust. On 11th October our guest demonstrator is Pauline Foster gave her presentation “The Power of the Flower” which again, was a very enjoyable evening.

November will feature a workshop and on the 9th we shall be heading to Blackpool for the NAFAS Festive Flower and Food Show in the Winter Gardens. Anyone local to our club who would like to join us on this trip we do have a few places left on our coach just contact us via our website or Facebook page.

On the 17th November we are holding our annual open event at Tutbury Village Hall, this year we are pleased to welcome Nigel Whyles with his Christmas themed presentation “Deck the Halls”. I know, I cannot believe it’s that time of the year again. Tickets are £10 each, to include a glass of wine or soft drink. The demonstration begins at 7.30 pm and there will be the usual raffle where winners could be taking home one of Nigel’s arrangements. Make sure the car is empty, some arrangements are huge. There will also be a sales table with lots of materials to make your own displays.

All events are posted on our Facebook and website, tutburyflowerclub.com. May we wish everyone a peaceful Christmas and the New Year 2018.

Spring 2017 News
(This article is taken from Rollestonian - Spring 2017 issue)

First of all I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope that 2017 will prove a good year for everyone.

Our Charity for 2016 was the Fountain School, Bitham Lane, and we were pleased to donate a cheque for £400 towards their Potting Shed scheme and Sanctuary Garden.

Our diary for this year consists of a mix of demonstrations and workshops the first being 8th February, a demonstration by Isobel the Florist. Her theme will be “What’s Happening in Floristry This Week”.

Our next demonstration will be on 8th March by Linda smith, “Let’s Go Dutch”. On 12th April we hold a workshop and on 10th May we have Di Singleton with her demo “Summertime”.

All events are held at Tutbury Institute commencing at 7.30 pm. Annual club membership, to include demonstrations and workshops, is £25 per year with visitors to events paying £4 on the door.

We look forward to welcoming all old and new members and anyone who may wish to try their hands at flower arranging. Further club details may be found at www.tutburyflowerclub.com
