The Rev Paul Knight visits his old home
A ring at the Rolleston Rectory door brought
a slightly familiar face. The Rev Paul Knight (pictured left) youngest son of Rev
Philip Knight who was here until 1971 stood on the doorstep. I
thought I recognised the face as I knew his brother Stephen Knight well
from Warwick. Paul now a Vicar of a Church near Leeds was visiting
the area as part of a weeks 'Retreat'. He came in and reminisced
about Rectory life in the 1960's, the OM mission, the visiting families,
the Scots Pine that now stands tall in the front garden being planted as a
seed. It was a privilege to show him around what was once his home. Then over to church where he sat for a while in his Fathers stall,
enjoying the peace and the space. I said goodbye to him as he walked
his dog over Shotwood Hill and onto other close friends in the Parish.
On his return home he sent me some wonderful photo's via the
Internet of the Rectory in the 60's (see below). He sends his best
wishes to all who remember him and the family. Maybe one day we can invite
the whole family back to Rolleston. (Rev. Ian Whitehead).
