Rolleston Scout Group News 2004
Winter 2004 News
During our summer break work has been carried out to install the new disabled toilet, which at the time of writing is complete and ready to be connected to the water supply. Many thanks go to all who have worked very hard to complete this project.
Car boots and rummage sales continue to be a good source of income for the group. Thank you to all who have supported these fund raising events. Our next car boot will be Sunday January 30th. 2005.
On December 11th. 2004 Uttoxeter Town Brass Band will be giving a Christmas concert at the Scout HQ. Hopefully, it will be a joint venture with cubs joining the band for some seasonal carol singing.
Cubs came a creditable 2nd in the District Cub Cup, which this year was held at Rolleston. Well done to all who took part.
Scouts attended a successful if rather damp summer camp in Bournemouth.
Our Group continues to deliver an interesting and varied program of activities for all age groups.

Autumn 2004 News
May I take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all the committee for their help in the past year.
The team of Beaver, Cubs and Scout leaders and assistant leaders do excellent work organising and instructing the boys in their various group and district activities.
The committee also works hard fund raising to provide for the smooth running of the headquarters and the equipment needed for the group. This is mainly done through car boot sales and rummage sales and our biggest fund raising event our Carnival. This year’s Carnival was a great success, with near record profits, again a huge thank you to all the parents and friends who joined us and contributed their time and effort on the day. Our thanks also to everyone that came and supported us and made it such an enjoyable day.
Usually, through the summer break there is little activity in the Scout HQ, but this year saw the building of a disabled toilet to add to the facilities.
Scouts will hopefully have enjoyed their summer camp at Bournemouth in August and cubs their fun day out at the go-kart track in Burton.
Anyone interested in joining our team of leaders or committee to help provide a valuable experience for the youngsters of Rolleston would be warmly welcomed into the Group.
The HQ and our marquees are available for hire, please contact Graham Jacks on 543194. Next Rummage Sale Saturday 25th September, next Car Boot Sale on Sunday 26th September.

Summer 2004 News
At the time of writing we are getting busy for our biggest fund raiser of the year, the Carnival, and I know you will all give us your support. As usual we hope the weather will be kind to us and I am sure we will have a very enjoyable afternoon, and I would like to thank everyone who helped and supported us. I would also like to thank members of RODSEC for giving their time in manning the Elizabeth Avenue Playing field which we were granted permission to use by the Parish Council for a Car Park since we have lost the Forest Car Park. Also, I would like to thank the residents of The Lawns and Hall Road for disrupting their afternoon with our floats.
I am pleased to say that the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are all enjoying their various activities. The Scouts are holding their summer camp in Bournemouth and the cubs will be having a summer camp also, venue as yet to be decided.
We would also like to enlarge the Group to 150 boys and I am sure you will be hearing more about that from our Scout Leader, Graham Jacks.
We had a successful day doing the refreshments for the Tulip Festival held in Stapenhill Gardens in April, however we really do need more support from the parents of the group who would be willing to help out at fund raising activities. I’m sure you would like to be part of one of the most successful Scout Groups in the Burton District.
The car boot sales are continuing to do well and we had a successful Rummage Sale in March. Also the Uttoxeter Band evening was great success and maybe we will be holding another one at a later date.
Now, don’t forget if you wish to hire the Headquarters for that special party, please phone June Webb on 01283 814582 or if you require a marquee, please phone Graham Jacks on 01283 543194.

Spring 2004 News
The boys are busy doing their various activities and enjoying themselves. The scouts are looking forward to their camp at York at the end of February and they are also going to a camp on Brownsea Island in the summer. Cubs and Scouts are all working and playing very hard and thoroughly enjoying themselves.
The fund Raising Team are also hard at work, Car Boot Sales have resumed after the Christmas break and we had a very successful Rummage sale last weekend. Car Boot Sales are on the last Sunday in the month.
We are also doing the catering for the Tulip Festival in April which coincides with the St George’s Day Parade. Our Carnival this year is on Sunday May 16th and the theme is TV Shows. This is our biggest fund raiser of the year and I know that you will give us your support.
Now, don’t forget if you wish to hire the Headquarters for that special party, please phone June Webb on 814582 or Graham Jacks on 543194.
