Rolleston Club News 2007
Spring 2007
I would like to thank everyone for the support that they have given to Rolleston club over this last year, we have tried to involve the club with the village as much as possible.
At the present time, due to the St Mary’s Church Old Grammar School alterations, the Coffee morning is being held at the Club in the Main Hall on Thursday mornings and it has been a great success. The Mother’s Union is being held at the club, and the post-Pancake Races pancakes are also being organized from the club.
If any organization wants to use the club for meetings please contact the Club Secretary, John Edwards, or any committee member or staff on 812072.
At the time of writing, Jan 27th, it’s membership renewal - so if you have forgotten to renew your membership nip down and do it otherwise your membership will lapse. So far in January we have had over 40 new members.
If you would like to join the club just come and have a look around. If you like what you see and fill in the application form, its that simple.
If you are a member you can hire the main hall for parties etc.
We had a rummage sale to raise money to buy a skittle ally, which was a great success, but sadly this is not used as often as we would like, so if you like to play skittles and can get a team together let our games secretary, Stacy Rushton, know and she will be to pleased to help you. If you would like to hire the skittle ally contact the Secretary John Edwards.
We will be holding a St Patrick’s Day Quiz and Supper on Wednesday 21st March. Tickets will be on sale at the bar £5:00, also a St George’s Day Supper and Quiz on Wednesday 25th April, tickets on sale at the club £5:00. RODSEC will be holding their “Anne Boleyn” night at the Club on Sunday March 25th. Tickets will be on sale at the Club and at Starbuck’s newsagents.
The club is planning to build a disabled toilet in the near future, other alterations are in the pipe- line when funds are available.
The club is used by quite a few village organisations, the British Legion hold a bingo night, and we have bingo every Friday and Sunday night so why not come and have a good night out. We have lots to offer you, fine beer, fine wines, bowling green, darts, dominoes, Crib, whist, and much more including live entertainment every Saturday night, organised by our Entertainment Secretary, Tim James.
Could I also thank our Vice Chairman, Barry Hyde, Secretary, John Edwards, and our Treasurer, Alan Philips and all the Committee, Sandra, Phyllis and all bar staff, for all the good work that they have done over the last year.
James Toon
President Rolleston Club.
