D-Day Commemoration Service And Celebrations
This year sees the 60th anniversary of the D Day landing on 6th June in France during World War 2. June 6th falls on a Sunday and to mark this very special occasion in history it is proposed to hold a Service in the morning at St Mary’s Church and parade to commemorate this event.
There will be a parade to the church with a band and then the Salute will be taken outside the church After the service parade will proceed to Rolleston club where the colours will be raised on the bowling green.
Hopefully there will be some refreshments and Entertainment in the afternoon.
The colours will lowered in the evening and it is planned to have a “1940’s EVENING”. (Dancing to music of the 1940s.) with Fancy Dress 1940s Style. Get out those old demob suits!
Trevor Bunce Chairman of Burton Sea Cadets will be sending invitations to all the various organizations in Rolleston to get ideas on how to organize this important event, so if you would like to take part, or would like any further information please contact me:- James Toon Tel 813535, or Trevor Bunce Tel 815077.
