The new committee have got off to a good start with a very successful quiz night in October. As always the “Two Daves’ ”, Dave Brookfield and Dave Hancock provide questions with a clever twist. This year’s final round of “Who wants to be a Millionaire” style questions was a lot of fun and boosted the flagging scores at the end. There were teams from both Trent and Dove Campus and Year 11 and 12 pupils helped to keep the score. It was a good evening and started fund raising well for the year.
Plans are well in hand for the Christmas Fair on November 17th when Olivia Murphy, England’s netball captain and Darren Stride, Burton Albion’s ever popular footballer will be on hand to open the proceedings. As a former pupil Olivia will no doubt enjoy touring the school and seeing all the stalls and games on offer. The P.S.F.A. are very grateful to all those who sponsor the raffle and the advertisements in the Lucky Programme. With such a positive input the Fair should be as successful as ever this year, as parents and friends are so generous with their time and money.
All money raised will go to support the school’s bid for Technology status which would help all the pupils.
In 2001 it is hoped to arrange a Fashion Show in March, a new venture for the P.S.F.A., contact me nearer the time for more information.

Glorious weather made Saturday 13th May a Duck Race day to remember. As the first official event of the Rolleston Millennium arts Festival the publicity had been excellent and villagers turned out en masse to buy tickets and watch the heats and final. Headmaster, Michael York with his two deputies fielded the winning ducks. Congratulations go to the first-prize winner Mr B. D. Fellows from Rolleston. He won £150. A tree on the croft shaded the cake stall, which sold out in no time and John Phillips kept the crowd entertained with his amusing commentary.
Also in conjunction with Rolleston Millennium Arts Festival a Youth concert was organised with the help of Brian Heather and Philip and Margaret Marshall at de Ferrers Dove Campus. Parents and friends enjoyed a very varied programme. Dan Whieldon played beautifully and the St Mary's Singers led by Karen Thompson sang very well. School groups included the Junior Wind Band, the Junior Choir, Voce Singers and Sarah Howard on the organ. This concert brought the school and the community closer together, and the PSFA of course masterminded refreshments and the successful raffle.
Our quiz books continue to challenge those who buy them and the Spring Quiz was won by Mrs S. Rushton who scored almost full marks. Please look out for our next quiz book to be launched in November.
All the fund-raising activities have been a good source of income for purchasing extra equipment for Dove and Trent Campus. As a bid is being made to make de Ferrers a Technology School the PSFA have agreed to back the bid with money raised this year. Helpers and the committee enjoyed strawberries and wine as a thank you for all the hard work put in over the year.
If anyone has any uniform, particularly larger sizes from pupils finishing school would you pass it on to the school office. Recycled uniform is always on sale at Dove Campus Parents' evenings and by request through the Dove Campus Office.
The AGM takes place on Tuesday September 19th at 7.00pm when any parents and friends will be very welcome to attend.
Our next big fund-raiser is the Christmas Fair on Dove Campus 7.00pm on Friday 17th November when there will be many attractions including cake stall and craft stalls. Be there - it's fun!
Thank you for your continued support in our fund raising efforts.

Good news again to report on the fund raising efforts. We were delighted to make over £600 from Model Expo 2000, our excellent model railways exhibition. This took place on a beautiful spring day in March. Let’s hope that the Duck Race on Rolleston Brook on May 13th will prove equally successful.
Our Millennium Quiz winner was Mr J.D. Cattell of Bedford – yes we do sell far and wide. He scored 134 out of a possible 140 and deserves congratulations. Now he will have the opportunity to try our Spring Quiz. This costs £1 with a first prize of £25 and is on sale at school offices.
New and established de Ferrers pupils may be interested in our excellent stock of recycled school uniforms. A good display will be on sale at Dove Campus on June 14th and 15th between 4.30pm and 6.30pm as well as in July when parents of new Year 7 pupils will make a visit to the school.
"New parents" will be particularly welcomed on to the committee and there will be a leaflet to enlist your offers of support.
At the present time plans are in hand for an even more interesting programme for 2000/2001. The committee are always looking for ways to make money to enhance facilities on Dove and Trent Campus.
Thank you for your support
