When the power goes out, it can leave people feeling unsure about what to do, with many wrongly thinking they should call the electricity supplier they pay their bill to. In order to solve this problem, a new phone number was launched by electricity networks on 6th September 2016. Dialling 105 will connect callers to their local electricity network operator.
The public can also call 105 if they spot damage to electricity power lines and substations that could put them, or someone else, in danger. If there’s a serious immediate risk, the emergency services should be called too. Further details are available in the attached pdf presentation.

Rolleston Travelling Library
Fortnightly service (except Bank Holidays)
Thursdays on Rolleston Club Car Park 9.30 am – 6.45 pm
Many of you already know that Staffordshire County Council’s Travelling Library visits Rolleston. It changed its operating hours in Easter 2016. From April the service will be fortnightly on Thursdays 9.30-18.45 on Rolleston Club car park. The first visit under the new timetable will be 14th April and then two weeks after.
We think it is an excellent service bringing the best of Staffordshire Libraries to your door. But as I’m sure you also know the hard part of providing any service is ‘getting the message out’. So we’re hoping this article should make it a little clearer about what we offer.
Now the more interesting stuff.
What does it offer? We carry 4000 items of constantly changing stock. (Although, it’s not all on at the same time; or we’d need extra wheels!) It’s too much to cover in one article but what you could expect to find on a visit is: anything from the latest release fiction to copies of the classics. We stock books to suit all tastes: from thrillers and crime to family sagas and Mills & Boon. And of course there’s something for science fiction and horror reader too. What’s best is many of these are in large print to cater for those with less than perfect vision and we even have some on audio tape or CD for those who prefer to listen!
We don’t forget our younger readers who can borrow anything from picture books to vampire stories. Non-fiction stock is available for all age-groups. It’s also worth mentioning that Internet access is available on the vehicle: so if you’re looking to research your family history or just want to ‘browse’ the web why not call in.
It’s always worth remembering that if we don’t have what you’re looking for we can order from another Staffordshire library for a modest fee to cover costs.
The helpful, good-looking, informed and friendly staff: Dawn, Ann and Peter will always be happy to show you what the vehicle offers (it’s perhaps going a bit far with the good-looking but…). So next Thursday, when you’re at a loss what to do, why not visit and take a look at what we have to offer – or if you want more details please telephone 07773 791132.
For general information, please telephone 01785 278369 (https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/leisure/librariesnew/branchlibraries/mobilelibraries/home.aspx).
You can also find books using the Staffordshire County Council on-line library catalogue.
