The new school year has started well, with a very successful Movie Night showing “Home”, one of the animated hits of the year, early in the term.
The new Committee, elected in September, is beginning to plan the series of FOJORPS events for the year ahead.
Following the success of last year’s format, we have committed to a bigger and better Christmas Market, which will be held from 3.45-6.30pm on Friday 27th November at the Junior School Site on Chapel Lane. We will have a number of stalls offering a variety of Christmas goods; hot food and refreshments; mince pies and mulled wine; and festive songs to kick off the Christmas period in style! Open to all, we would be delighted to see as many villagers as possible.
Having completed a successful fund raising round last year, we are now in a position to purchase 30 iPads, 15 for each site, so that our children can take full advantage of the new learning technologies on offer. This is a fantastic achievement, which would not have been possible without the support of the parents and the whole village community – so THANK YOU!
This year, John of Rolleston continues to host the “Dove Valley” inter-school sports tournaments. FOJORPS is supporting these events, by running refreshments appropriate to the event. We have provided sausage and bacon butties for the football, and teas and coffees at the tag rugby tournament. As well as a modest income generator, this is a great opportunity to help promote the school and support them.
We have already started planning this year’s Community Day which will be held on June 11th. Bigger, better and hopefully drier!
I am sure that this year will be another great success for FOJORPS and that we will continue to “create childhood memories”.
Thank you for your continued support

Community Day 13th June from 11 am
The plans for this year’s Community day are coming on well. As well as all of the usual favorites like Tutbury band and Pinxton puppets, the rollercoaster, ducking stool and pole bashing, we have the return of the popular inflatable obstacle course and the bucking bronco from last year. We have also booked some new attractions including some traditional fairground rides.
We have had confirmation of the RAF flypast and this will be an Dakota.
Community day is a fun day out for all the family and would love to see as many of the village community supporting the school as possible. Hopefully this year the weather will be kind to us (unlike last year!) This is the one thing we cannot plan for but like last year even if the weather is poor then there is still a good day to be had by all!
Ladies night is also back by popular demand and will take place on the 26th June. More information to follow. Please request to Join the “FOJORPS community events” page on Facebook or by joining our Twitter feed @fojorps.
The children continue to enjoy the activities we put on with good attendances at both discos and movie nights. This means our fundraising for the iPads is going well. We are still looking at sponsorship for some of these iPads. If anyone owns a business or knows a business that would be interested in sponsoring then please give them my details.
Overall I still believe it is going to be another successful year for FOJORPS which will allow us not only to increase the amount of money we can donate to specific projects within school, but also creating the memories that the children will take away with them
Thank you for your continued support

This school year has started off well. We have held our usual discos and movie nights which all of the children have enjoyed. We also tried out a new format for our Christmas Bazaar. This year we turned it into the Christmas Market. This went very well and the general consensus is that people prefer this format. Next Christmas we will build on this to create a bigger and better event.
Coming up we have our annual Quiz Night. It would be lovely to see some teams from outside of the school as well as those with connections to the school. The Quiz night is on Friday 13th March. The tickets are £12 for a team of four. This includes a cold supper.
We have already started planning this year’s Community Day. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us this year!
It has been decided that this year rather than funding lots of small items we are going to aim to raise enough money to buy 2 sets of 15 iPads. There will be one for each of the sites. This will benefit the children with their IT skills as well as the ability for it to help with other subjects via specific apps. We are also looking at sponsorship for some of these iPads. If anyone owns a business or knows a business that would be interested in sponsoring then please give them my details.
