A Celebration of Flowers

St Mary's Church in Rolleston on Dove proved the ideal venue for a special concert on the first night of the "Celebration of Flowers" event (held 13th to 16th October 2006), a one-woman show put on by Mrs Janet Stone. The concert, which had attracted a capacity audience, featured local singers Sharon Plummer and Andy Last in a wide-ranging programme of solos and duets. Sharon and Andy were accompanied brilliantly by Edward Moore, another well-known local musician. The picture shows Janet Stone, Sharon Plummer, Andy Last and Edward Moore.

The festival was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of East Staffordshire at 1pm on Friday. The proceeds from the events (which raised over £3,000) will go towards the Church's ambitious programme of refurbishment and improvement, which includes wheelchair access from Church Road. This phase of the work is almost complete: new paths have been laid in the churchyard and the ramp will be finished by the end of October. Pictures of the flowers can be seen here.
