Flooding in Rolleston
July 6th 2012
On Friday evening sandbags were out in force after sustained and heavy downfalls left some areas of the village under a foot of water. Station Road was closed off by the police after torrential rain in a matter of hours created a river through the village.
Rolleston was effectively cut off for several hours - all access roads were flooded to varying extent. My route home via Dovecliff Road was treacherous - the road simply disappeared for over a hundred yards from the entrance to Blue Cross and then again at the bottom of South Hill.
The photos below are a reminder of the threat of flooding and it is to be hoped will be taken into account when considering further development in the village. It would be useful to have others (please email the ).
Here is a dramatic youtube video provided by Richard Matthews. The following page shows more flood pictures.
