You may ask what Rolleston, a little hamlet at the start of the 20th century when road transport was in its infancy, has to do with the history of transport. Many will be surprised to know that there is an interesting history of transport associated with Rolleston. The Mosleys were the first people to own a car in the village - a Sunbeam. bought in the 1920s. The local blacksmith, Frank Topley, was expert at making and repairing leaf springs and people came from a long way to have new springs made for their cars (and carts). Perhaps more significantly, the owner of Burton car makers Baguley - Major Baguley lived in the Grey House in School Lane.
