Rolleston Cricket Club News 2005
Autumn 2005 Newsletter
By the time you read this the cricket season will be over for another year – doesn’t time fly? I suppose that after previous recent seasons 2005 has been slightly disappointing. The following report assesses the situation as at August 1st -
After a bright start our 1st team look as if they will finish about half way in Division 1.
The 2nd team have really struggled and look set to finish at the foot of Division 3S – fortunately, due to League restructuring – they will not be relegated.
The 3rd team need to finish in the top three of Division 6S to gain promotion. They currently are in 5th position. On paper they have a fairly easy run in, so there is still a good chance for them to go up.
The Club retained the Burton Breweries Cup with a fairly comfortable victory over Alrewas at Marston’s sports ground on July 31st.
We were also runners up in the Randall Trophy, losing the final against Lullington.
The 1st team also reached the semi-final of the League Cup, losing to favourites Spondon.
Our Under 17s were also beaten finalists in the Fred Lowe Trophy. Having won the trophy in the previous two years they were beaten by Ticknall. They also finished joint runners-up in the League to Ticknall.
