Well Dressings
The main well dressing was designed with four thoughts in mind. The top panel was victory with all the Allied flags and symbols, the side panels show the joy of the victory with a street party on one side and another showed a couple dancing with a drum and a trumpet. The bottom panel showed the price of war, with the railway into Auschwitz, a tank, and ambulance and injured men. At the right side of the bottom panel there was the Japanese rising sun to show that the war in the East was still going on. The main panel was hope - hope for the future. It showed a soldier and his girl dreaming, and in their dream bubble there was a thatched cottage and the dove of peace.
