Rolleston Music Circle & Choral Society News 2006

Newsletter - Winter 2006

The choir has two important concerts in December. On Saturday 16th, we will be taking part in the Mayor of East Staffordshire's Christmas Concert at Burton Town Hall. This promises to be a grand and festive occasion. NB it starts at 7.0 pm prompt.

Then on Wednesday 20th, we will be mounting our traditional evening of Christmas carols, music and readings at the Methodist Chapel in Rolleston. This will start at 7.30 pm. Tickets will be available on the door, but come early as demand for seats is always high.

More details about both these concerts through local publicity nearer the time.

By the time this is published, we hope to have appointed a new conductor. Peter Vernon is leaving us after 13 distinguished and eventful years, to spend more time with his family and teaching young musicians at the Birmingham Conservatoire, one of country's leading music training colleges.

Newsletter - Autumn 2006

Rehearsals are starting soon for one of the great works of the choral repertoire: Mozart's Requiem. We'll be performing this in the Priory Church of St.Mary in Tutbury on Saturday 18th November, at 7.30 pm, along with the same composer's Flute Concerto in D Major, in which the soloist will be Adam Chidley.

Tickets at £8 and £6 (concessions) will be available soon from choir members, or from Starbuck's News.

We're a friendly choir and new members are always welcome. We rehearse at 7.45 pm on Wednesday nights, starting 6th September, at the Methodist Chapel.

Newsletter - Summer 2006

Our summer concert will be a selection of light popular music, including some well-known choruses. This takes place at Hatton Parish Church, as part of their Flower Festival on Friday 16 June, at 7.30 pm. Tickets on the door: see local publicity nearer the time for more details.

Newsletter - Spring 2006

The Society's next concert will be an ambitious and imaginative event around the theme of the Four Seasons. The choir will perform Haydn's oratorio The Seasons, and this will be framed by excerpts from Vivaldi's celebrated baroque orchestral work, The Four Seasons. The date of Saturday 13 May has been heavily pencilled in, with the venue to be announced. Please watch for further announcements and publicity nearer the time.
