"Thunderbirds are Go"

Ian Whitehead, the Rector of Rolleston, has once more undertaken a sponsored bike ride for this event. Instead of cycling between Anslow and Rolleston like last year, he cycled twice around the 12 rural churches of the Tutbury Deanery on Friday 12 September, a distance of 66 miles (not including the hills!). He was joined by PC Dave Lear, our Community Policeman, on the ride.

This year there was no borrowed bike, either, as a 40th birthday present equipped him with a gel seat and suspension (he might have preferred to keep the Tiger Moth!).

The two riders set off at 9am - and were joined all be it briefly by a third - heading off over the bridge towards Anslow (arriving at their first church at 9.15am). Both riders completed the two circuits in 4 hours and 41 minutes.
