Art Club News 2001
Newsletter - Winter 2001
The club members have been very productive and at our Annual Exhibition at the Brewhouse, which is now open and runs until December 22nd, we have hung 88 pictures. These pictures cover all subjects, landscapes, portraits, flowers etc. and all media, water-colour, acrylic, pastels. We hope that this exhibition will be as successful as last year when we sold about 20 pictures. The pictures can be bought off the wall and taken straight away. All transactions are carried out through the box office. So, how about a different Christmas present this year for you yourself, or family or friends.
On our normal club night we are working through our programme of a different theme each week although members can do their own thing. Our membership continues to increase, however a few more men would be welcome!
If you require more information about the club or its activities please ring me on 812184 .

Newsletter - Autumn 2001
The members have been, for the month of August, sketching and painting 'plein air' around the villages. The Monday club meetings at Stretton Methodist Church will start again on September 3rd. There are two art exhibitions in the Autumn for which club members need to prepare, the Club's own at the Brewhouse from October to December, and the BADAC small pictures in March of 2002. Also there is an open exhibition here in Rolleston, as part of Rolleston's celebration of the Queen's Jubilee, in May 2002. So there is plenty of incentive to paint. For more information about the club (meetings are held each Monday at 7.00pm at the Stretton Methodist church) and its activities please contact Ron Price on 812184.
Newsletter - Summer 2001
The club continues to increase its membership and successful meetings are held each Monday at 7.00pm at the Stretton Methodist church. Some of us now are preparing for our Exhibition to be held at the Guildhall in Derby from 18th - 23rd June. Also some of the members will be showing their pictures on the day of the Rolleston Scout Carnival at the scout HQ on 20th May. From June onwards we will be out and about sketching and painting in the local villages except if it is wet when we will be meeting back in Stretton.
For more information please ring the chairman, Ron Price on 812184.
Newsletter - Spring 2001
The Club held a very successful exhibition of members’ work at the Brewhouse in the weeks before Christmas. Out of the 90 plus paintings exhibited, much to the delight of the artists, 21 were sold, which is also a Club record.
The New Year heralded a major change for the Club. We have moved to a large room/hall at Stretton Methodist church, where we now meet on a Monday from 7 – 9pm. The room/hall is large enough to accommodate all our members comfortably and has excellent lighting and heating and there is ample car parking close by. We are now working through our spring programme and some of us are preparing for the BADAC exhibition in the Brewhouse in March and for our June exhibition at the Derby Guildhall. We also have some new members, with room for more.
From June onwards we will be out and about sketching in the local villages except if it is wet, when we will be meeting back in Stretton. The Club’s AGM will be held on 5th March. For further information, please ring the chairman, Ron Price on 812184.
